One of many saddest things I stumble upon http://forum.bloog-24.coml in my work is somebody who has lived in a dysfunctional marriage long enough that they have stopped believing they deserve to be happy - or perhaps more accurately, that they deserve to follow happiness. For a person who doesn't believe they deserve to be happy, it's unlikely that they ever will be significantly happy for any sustained period of time. They will find a way to sabotage themselves either intentionally or unconsciously when they begin to feel happy or good. |
